Jersey Genesis Triathlon- June 2, 2012
Cape Bank High School Challenge
The organizers of the Jersey Genesis Triathlon have added
a high school relay challenge to the team division of the
event. Three students, who all attend the same high school,
can enter as a team (all males, all females or co-eds) into
the Triathlon. High schools can also enter several teams.
The triathlon consists of a half mile swim, 16 mile bike and
a 4 mile run.
The three teams with the best finishing times will receive
awards. Cape Bank has provided additional sponsorship for
a traveling school trophy for the team with the best finishing
time. The trophy will be kept by the winning school and returned
the following year to the race director to be presented to
the new winning team. This year's event is USAT sanctioned.
Student team entry fee is $60.00 and the team name must include
the name of the high school the athletes attend. Student school
ID will be required at packet pick-up.
To register, applications can be downloaded from our website
or you can register at packet pick-up Friday, June 1 between
6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at the Port Republic Fire House or race
day between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM at Harry Bowen Park - 141
Main Street, Port Republic. Wet suits are permitted and bathing
caps are supplied. To be guaranteed a t-shirt pre-registration
is encouraged.
This year's event has verbal commitments from Atlantic City,
Holy Spirit, Absegami, Oakcrest, Cedar Creek and Southern
Regional. Rumor has it Southern is sending three teams to
sweep the challenge.
Our goal is to introduce the sport of triathlon to high school
athletes. Triathlon is now an Olympic sport and at the college
level teams are competing all over the country.
It's a fact that college scouts and military recruiters are
very interested in well disciplined student athletes. What
a great way to give young people a head start.
